Carne Asada Rides Again
If you're not lucky enough to live in Phoenix, try this homemade version of Carne Asada. Brian found it on authenticmexicanrecipes.com. Actually, I'm sure we could find a good carniceria around our house, but he was up for a challenge and wanted to make it himself.
Carne Asada marinade
1/4 c. vegetable oil
1/2 c. red wine vinegar
1/3 c. lime juice
1/3 c. orange juice
1 c. water
2 Tblsp. peeled garlic, crushed
1 tsp. white pepper
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cumin
1 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. Mexican oregano
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 orange, sliced
1/4 bunch cilantro, chopped, no stems
Seal all in a plastic bag with meat. Marinate overnight.
makes enough marinade for 6 lbs. meat
